After a parisian life that he shares with painters and poets like Picasso, Apollinaire, Salmon, Carco, etc., Max Jacob, converted to Catholicism further to a "vision" he has in 1909, retreats in Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire, in a monastery. The false lights of the capitale makes him blasé, and he comes less often to Paris. He takes the paths of mystic experience. This hallucinated prophet was a "chameleon", a multiple faceted poet full of humor. He had a comical nature, he was both fine and tender and he left, among other works, major poetic compilations.
