Synopsis
The head of an Artificial Insemination Program is confronted with ethical problems and a crisis of conscience as lawmakers are unable to keep up with the latest scientific discoveries. Antoine Daumier heads up a high-powered research team specializing in IVF (in-vitro fertilization). Antoine adores his work, which he sees as a kind of humanist mission using science to help couples who despair of ever having their own children. A group of women comes to his hospital to test a new procedure. For them, it is the beginning of a long struggle full of doubts, setbacks and tears. For Antoine, it is a stressful period when he must withhand the pressure for quick results imposed by administrators and face up to his wife and son’ s accusations that he is never around.
