Synopsis
Dramatic author, troupe leader, director, actor, official provider of royal entertainments, Molière only lived for Theatre, until exhaustion. As an author, he so brightly pinned down the manners of his time that it attracted him as many enmities and hatreds as applauses. If, when alive, he knew many successes his status of comedian, vile profession at the time, stopped him from entering the Académie Française and almost led him to the common grave. In spite of his tumultuous existence, Molière succeeded in uplifting Comedy to its most noble level, giving it a model and rules that continue to seduce the audience, century after century.
