Synopsis

In April 1978, Marc, a pupil at the ENA (a prestigious french school) is on his first work placement at the prefecture in Laon. His first case is immediately thrown into question. It concerns a man, an old African man, who asks today’s Republic of France to honour the debt it incurred by past governments of colonial France. Namely to acknowledge the role of soldiers enrolled against their will to fight for France during terrible European wars.
